I figured it was time to post about something other than porn addiction and porn addiction recovery. I am in love with psychology, writing, and photography. When I end up getting really down about my partner's addiction and the fallout, I usually go to one of the three interests mentioned to cope and get through.

I have been into photography since high school (so for about 7 years) and same with writing. I got into psychology when I was in college (4.5 years ago) and personally can say it has been incredibly helpful through this experience. I used to write music with a friend and one of the songs we wrote was on a radio station a couple years back, which was insane to hear. Also, I've played on stage before with her at the music theater in our town. I think I am also about to start writing a book, so that is exciting! I also want to learn how to cook, my partner does all the cooking, and I think it would be a great idea to start cooking so I can challenge the anxiety I get due to the anorexia. Does anyone have any good recipes involving chicken, rice and broccoli or something like that?
What are some of everyone else's interests? Any accomplishments with those interests? Anything new anyone wants to try?

Really? I am a forensic psych major with a background in writing. You get awards for writing? Do you submit them to contests? What are you interested in psychology, specifically?

I got awards in high school for writing, I was considered one of the best writers in my school. I like forensic, child/adolescent, business psychology.

That's cool. I won a contest I submitted to for photography once. Can't remember which image of mine won, but I was shocked. What do you want to do with psychology after you get your Masters? Go on to get a PsyD or PhD?

Go on to get a PsyD or PhD? I don't think PhD, but I wanna help people somehow, maybe do more research. I wanna possibly make some breakthroughs for pornography addiction. I can't recall her name (it's on one of my blog posts), but this woman who has her doctorate did research which she claims proved porn addiction isn't a thing and that it's beneficial to relationships and it made me angry. She tries to make it seem like everyone should accept it. What about people like us who are very hurt by it? Why do we have to be the ones to accept it

Okay, I know I am going to get my Masters, probably in Counseling. I can't afford a PsyD or PhD.

Depending on what state you live in the requirement for being a counselor differ. If you have a masters, a certain amount of hours supervised, and you take the exams and pass, you are then a licensed counselor and are able to practice.

I live in Massachusetts now but will live in New Hampshire next year. My master's degree im getting says it can't lead to licensure, but my advisor says there's ways to do it that I just need to find ways to get supervision and such.

Huh, is the place you're going to school accredited? And yeah, once receiving a master's degree, usually it's a year and a half of supervisory work.
